We need someone who can collaborate with Senior Architects, Product Managers and existing engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver software that makes the future of multi-cloud monitoring as part of Hybrid data services team. As a technical member of the team, you will be expected to deliver these with specific focus on cloud, distributed systems, scalability, elasticity and SLA rollups into each component.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

As a senior engineer on the vCenter core components, you will be expected to:

  • Design and Develop roadmap items on schedule with high quality.
  • Play an active hands-on role across the entire software development life cycle
  • Collaborate in large-scale distributed systems design discussions.
  • Employ test driven development practices as part of the development process.
  • Ensure project clarity with all stakeholders and team members.
  • Responsible not just for developing but deploying, maintaining and supporting the core components.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

As a new member of the vCenter team, you will:

  • Work with the team and product management to review and refine delivery requirements
  • Write technical design documents and hold reviews
  • Participate in all team scrum ceremonies
  • Develop and maintain software that delivers on the team’s objectives primarily in Golang and Java
  • Work with compliance team to ensure all new capabilities designed/built meets the compliance standards
  • Participate in our on-call rotation, providing operational support to our platform
  • Communicate with internal consumers of the team’s software and gather requirements and facilitate adoption of your solutions

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

This position reports to the Manager of the Hybridity data services Team as part of CIBG organization. The team consists of highly competent senior engineers. We focus on iterative development, both of software and our software development practices.

You will initially be part an established team that has a wide range of core design, integration and support responsibilities, but the expectation is that you soon become an SME for one of the component and drive its roadmap with focus on architecture and quality. This is a great opportunity for someone who likes to work on building a futuristic monitoring platform and establish the key element of any SaaS offering.
